The Words I Couldn’t Say During Your Wedding…

Wow! Our life has been chock full of adventure and excitement! From the moment your mother and I knew you were on your way – to this moment, now – I have been your partner and your best friend.

… Caving (as the Spencer cam!)…

… Gathering rocks…

…Looking for arrowheads…

…Searching for crawfish…

…Making bows and arrows…

…Flint-knapping…

…Stump hunting…

…Collecting rattlesnakes and copperheads…

…Breeding geckos and boa constrictors…

…Shooting carp (and that time you shot your brother in the throat!)…

…Trapping peregrine falcons and northern goshawks and so many other raptors…

….Driving for days alone together desperately hoping there would be a red tail or American Kestrel around the next corner, or on the next power pole, or hunkered in the next tree (keep your eyes on the road! Go! Stop! Stop! Go! Go! Go!)…

…Being Morse Metalworkers…

…Defending your brothers when I yelled at them for doing something less than smart… and now when you yell at them for making not quite good decisions…

…Speaking of the wonderful attributes of this precious bride that God has given you!

…Reading the Bible together…

…Shaping our lives on the grindstone of the Gospel!

…Praying for our family and your future!

Today, I gladly give you to someone who is more than worthy to be your new partner and best friend. Son, this is God’s plan – your mother and I are so satisfied in Christ’s choice for you today! We love Mary Elizabeth! She is a wonderful young lady and I wouldn’t ever even consider giving you up to someone less worthy… you and I were perfect together… now go and be perfect together with her!

(I had hoped against hope that I would be able to get through this without tears… NOPE! But there is no way to live this life without pain when you love so much!)
